Club Background & History:

Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club is organized as a 501 c(3) not for profit entity to educate, inspire and promote the development of high quality soccer players in the Brooklyn community. Our mission since 1949 has been to foster a soccer community that reflects the diversity of Brooklyn New York.

To provide children of all backgrounds, from our youngest players in Scuola Calcio, to competitive boys and girls travel teams, to our adult men’s program, an opportunity to develop their passion for the beautiful game and realize their full potential as both players and young adults in NYC’s most populous borough.

We are Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club was founded in 1949 by Italian immigrants who settled in Brooklyn after World War II. Most immigrants did not speak English, found it difficult to support their families, but came together in their local clubs to transition to a new life in the United States of America with one common goal: to recreate the passion of soccer that they all loved and played in Italy.

While the club was founded by Italian immigrants, its history includes all immigrants that came to NYC with dreams of a better life and regardless of which corner of the globe that they migrated from had one thing in common – The Beautiful Game.

The Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club celebrated its greatest triumph in 1979 winning the U.S. Open Cup Championship, crowned best soccer team in the U.S. for the first time. The club would go on to make the U.S. Open Cup final two more times and lifting the trophy once more in 1991.

Player First

Our player philosophy is to put the best interests of the players first, by emphasizing individual long-term development. We support the developmental goals of each player at their own pace, while instilling a passion for The Beautiful Game that inspires hard work to reach their full potential. We believe the development of our players, both on and off the pitch, is equally important and provides opportunities to further develop their character and overall important life skills.

Education + Soccer

At Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club our primary objective is to nurture the talent of all players. We are a development club, in which the development of people is of the highest importance. Our goal within that objective is to combine The Beautiful Game with education to develop the character of every player.

Ultimately, we aim to build players in a healthy team environment where everyone knows their role and contribution, as well as inspiring good future leaders in our Brooklyn community. We work as one Brooklyn community with our players, parents and volunteers in an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust and open communication.

Community

We have a structured yet flexible training program that enhances all player skill sets to maximize their individual potential. Our holistic approach to youth development, the quality of our coaches, our value system and U.S. soccer history of success, is what makes Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club special as a NYC club.

We provide an opportunity for all the players and families in the Brooklyn community, regardless of their financial resources or athletic ability to achieve their soccer success. We seek to develop technically skilled, confident and creative soccer players who are adaptable to the demands of the game.
