BROOKLYN, NY - The Brooklyn Italians First Team held their first round of tryouts for the 2017 season on Saturday, with over 80 players in attendance.
The team competes in the NPSL, a league widely recognized as the fourth division of US soccer. They have a rich history of success at this level, having been US Open Cup Winners on two occasions and promoting a number of players into the professional game, such as Tim Parker (Vancouver Whitecaps & US National Team), Vincent Bezecourt (NY Red Bulls) and Rafael Diaz (NY Red Bulls) in recent years.
The team aims to recruit and develop the best young players from across the North East, helping prepare them for professional soccer through quality training and competitive games. Through an exciting new initiative with several of NY's biggest companies, the club will also be helping their first team players prepare for a career away from the playing field.
From the 80+ in attendance, 10 players were selected to attend the next round of tryouts, which will be held at 10am at LIU Brooklyn on Saturday, 17th December 2016. The address for LIU Brooklyn's facility is 161 Ashland Place, Brooklyn, NY, 11201.
All training sessions and home games will be played there for the 2017 season. League games begin in May.
